Meliadine’s Underground Mine Operations are implementing a Mine Intelligence and Mine Control (MIMiC) Center to oversee and orchestrate underground mining operations. The MIMiC will be instrumental in allowing real-time management and optimization of workplaces, equipment and personnel which in turn will increase the Mine’s capacity and competitiveness.
Reporting to the Assistant General Supervisor, you will be part of the Underground Mine Department, working in conjunction with Underground Front Line Supervisors and collaborating with multiple departments of the mine site. You are a central point of contact for underground operations. You drive a process that allows for real-time assignment of tasks to underground personnel to ensure that targets are achieved. You will orchestrate the work of the Control Room team members.
Operational Planning and Scheduling:
Plan horizon spans a 3-shift period during which you are responsible to sequence operational activities. During this period of interest, you maintain a 36-hour rolling schedule.
Liaise with mechanical and electrical departments to ensure operational needs are communicated.
Supervise the Mine Intelligence and Mine Control Center. You ensure that people and processes support the Active Dispatching of underground activities.
Justify variances in the compliance between planned and actual results during their 3-shift plan.
Responsible for coordinating all planning/preplanning meetings within their area of responsibility.
Metric Management:
Ensure that metrics recorded by the Control Room are measured accurately.
Oversee the collection, validation, and analysis of real-time data used to support decision-making of Underground Operations.
Compliance and Safety:
Assign work that complies with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Apply all procedures that pertain to MIMiC processes.
Ensure that Control Room team members are trained and diligently apply approved policies and procedures.
Supervision:
Supervise the Control Room Specialists in all safety and production related matters and ensure accuracy of data.
Provide coaching and mentorship to the Control Room team members and ensure that their work practices support the objectives of the MIMiC.
Technology Integration:
Support and troubleshoot technology used by the Control Room. Escalate support tickets as required.
Assist with departmental projects during implementation.
Develop and implement procedures to resolve technology issues and improve efficiency.
Problem Solving and Optimization:
Optimize dispatching decisions and adjustments based on real-time operational data, aiming to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Minimum of 3 years in underground mine operations or mine engineering experience is a requirement;
Possession or ability to obtain a WSCC Mine Supervisor ticket is a requirement;
Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations is a requirement;
Mine Technologist Post-Secondary Degre or equivalent is an asset;
2 years of experience in a leadership role is an asset;
Experience using a Fleet Management System and scheduling software is an asset;
Demonstrate ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills;
Experience working in a multicultural environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule:
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
