Salary: UoM8: $125,191-$135,504 p.a. plus 17% super (pro rata for part time)

Your next career opportunity 
You will lead AMSI’s portfolio of national programs and events across research, higher education and schools.

You will manage a small events team, shape strategy, and deepen partnerships with universities, government and industry.

You will expand your grant-writing skills and build experience in Australia’s mathematical sciences and wider STEM ecosystem.

What you will deliver: 

  • Lead planning and delivery of AMSI research, higher education and schools programs and events from concept to completion.

  • Oversee project budgets, timelines, KPIs, surveys and reporting to ensure programs meet objectives and funding requirements.

  • Provide strategic advice on program growth, sponsorship, membership and policy to the Director, Associate Director, and Board.

  • Lead and develop the Engagement and Events team, allocating workloads, supporting performance and fostering a collaborative culture.

  • Coordinate content for marketing channels, including websites, newsletters and social media, in partnership with Communications colleagues.

You may be a great fit if you: 

  • Hold a degree-level qualification and extensive experience managing complex programs, projects and events, ideally in STEM contexts.

  • Demonstrate leadership of professional staff, including workload planning, performance management and building cohesive, collaborative teams.

  • Bring a strong track record preparing business plans, project proposals and successful grants or tenders.

  • Implement policy and contracts that support equity, access and compliant delivery of programs and events.

  • Build productive relationships with senior stakeholders across universities, schools, government, industry and philanthropic organisations.

  • Show excellent written and digital skills, including report writing, web content development and careful document editing.

Your new team – Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute
AMSI is Australia’s peak body for the mathematical sciences, hosted within the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Science. The team delivers national programs that connect schools, universities, government and industry to strengthen STEM capability.
