Salary:  Level A - AUD $87,266 - $118,416 (PhD Entry Level - $110,319) p.a. plus 17% super (pro rata for part time)

Your next career opportunity 
In this research-only role, you will join the ARC Discovery Project on 4-manifold topology.
Work closely with Dr Arunima Ray on embedded surfaces and exotic smooth structures in four-dimensional manifolds.

You will deepen your expertise, build an independent research programme and contribute to high-impact publications.

What you will deliver: 

  • Lead and contribute to research on 4-dimensional manifolds within the ARC Discovery Project team.

  • Develop an independent research programme, producing high-quality publications in leading international journals.

  • Present research at seminars and conferences, and help prepare competitive grant and fellowship applications.

  • Co-supervise and mentor undergraduate research students and contribute to broader research training activities.

  • Support School service, outreach, and diversity and inclusion initiatives, including events and public engagement.

You may be a great fit if you: 

  • Hold a completed, or near-complete, PhD in topology or a closely related discipline.

  • Bring demonstrated research experience in topology, ideally in low-dimensional or geometric topology.

  • Maintain a strong, emerging publication record aligned with career stage and opportunities.

  • Demonstrate skill in preparing research reports, manuscripts and, ideally, competitive funding applications.

  • Collaborate effectively within diverse research teams and engage productively with external partners and stakeholders.

  • Show proven ability to manage projects independently, meet deadlines and support student supervision
