Job Title: Health & Safety Officer
Employer: Berda Claude International School
Location: Phuket, Thailand
Reporting Line:
Reports operationally to the Head of School (BCIS) and functionally to ISP Regional Health & Safety, in alignment with ISP group standards and compliance requirements.
Key Relationships:
Head of Operations, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Nursing Team, Programme Principals, HR Manager, ISP Regional H&S Team.
Position Purpose
The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating all health and safety functions across BCIS to ensure a safe and compliant environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role ensures alignment with Thai legal requirements and ISP global health and safeguarding standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with relevant Thai legislation including the Occupational Safety Health and Environment Act B.E. 2554.
- Monitor updates in local health and safety legislation and ISP guidance.
- Submit statutory reports as required by law.
- Liaise with local authorities, insurers, and relevant regulatory bodies.
- Provide required H&S reports to BCIS leadership and ISP in accordance with reporting timelines.
2. Risk Assessment & Inspection
- Coordinate the school-wide risk assessment programme.
- Lead regular safety inspections and audits (including SAI360 logging).
- Ensure corrective actions from audits are implemented.
- Maintain hazardous substances register and safety documentation.
3. Incident & Accident Management
- Administer accident investigation and reporting procedures.
- Prepare and monitor accident and illness reports (students and staff).
- Submit ISP Global monthly Safety & Safeguarding reports.
- Identify trends and recommend preventive measures.
4. Emergency Preparedness
- Coordinate fire drills, evacuation and lockdown drills.
- Ensure adequate fire marshals and first aiders are appointed.
- Maintain updated emergency procedures and safety signage.
- Display BCIS H&S Policy and Fire/Accident Reporting Procedures.
5. Training & Awareness
- Identify H&S training needs across the school.
- Deliver or source H&S training programmes.
- Conduct H&S induction for new staff and long-term temporary employees.
- Complete H&S Induction Checklist for all new starters.
