Role Description:
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data platforms that power high-volume, data-driven applications. This role focuses on building reliable data pipelines, enabling analytics at scale, and leveraging modern AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to improve engineering efficiency and quality.
This position is located in San Diego, CA and has the work schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day work from home.
Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large, complex datasets
Build and manage data solutions using Databricks and Spark
Develop backend data services using C# / .NET
Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate development
Design efficient data models and ensure high performance and reliability
Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to deliver production systems
Ensure data quality, availability, and performance across systems
Lead technical design decisions and mentor other engineers
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university
A track record of commitment to prior employers.
5+ years of data engineering experience
Strong experience with data pipelines and ETL frameworks
Experience building and scaling large data systems
Experience with AWS-based data platforms and services
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise with Databricks / Apache Spark, C# / .NET, and SQL/database design
Experience with AI/ML data pipelines
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code or similar)
Experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)
Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices

This position offers a base salary range from $124,000 to $190,000 a year, determined by relevant skills and experience, and a generous benefits plan.
