Assistant Director of Performance
The Opportunity
UHP is seeking an Assistant Director of Performance to serve as a frontline leader responsible for coaching quality, team development, and day-to-day execution across UHP’s performance programs.
This individual will play a critical role in building coaching excellence, maintaining standards, and creating a consistent, high-quality experience for students and staff throughout our immersive programs.
The ideal candidate is a leader and developer of people who thrives in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment and is excited to contribute to something larger than themselves.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day performance coaching environment
Ensure consistency in coaching quality, professionalism, and delivery
Observe coaching sessions and provide actionable feedback
Address student and coaching issues with urgency and ownership
Conduct regular 1:1 development meetings with Performance Coaches and Graduate Assistants
Develop coaches in communication, programming, leadership, and presence
Lead Graduate Assistant recruiting, screening, onboarding, and development
Support hiring and onboarding of performance staff
Support curriculum delivery and refinement
Act as a communication bridge between leadership and coaching staff
Support day-to-day execution and continuity across performance operations
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
Experience as a performance coach with leadership responsibility
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide direct and constructive feedback
High ownership, accountability, and professional maturity
Ability to operate within a fast-paced, immersive onsite environment
Relevant certification (CSCS, CPT, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading or developing coaching teams
Experience working with military, veteran, or high-discipline populations
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology or related field
Background in mentorship, instruction, or curriculum development
Schedule & Environment
Schedule: Flexibility is required based on campus operational needs, including varying shifts, occasional weekends, and instrcuational coverage requirements across our 800+ acre environment.
Work Environment: Fully onsite at 25200 Ranch Road, Gentry, AR 72734 within a fast-paced, immersive human performance and coaching environment. This role requires daily interaction with students, coaches, and leadership teams while operating in a highly collaborative setting.
