Job Description

Location: Mt Carmel, Utah.

Zion Mountain Ranch is an elevated sanctuary just 3 miles from the East Entrance of Zion National Park, set on a roaming bison preserve. Guests can choose from thoughtfully crafted cabins and bespoke lodges and enjoy on‑site experiences including guided horseback riding, bison feedings, and Cordwood, a field‑to‑fork restaurant featuring ingredients from the ranch’s organic gardens.

Job Summary: 

As a Night Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, ensuring a safe and clean environment for kitchen crew, translating into enhanced food safety standards for guests. You will work closely with the Back of House manager to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.  (Seasonal working dates: Date of hire through November 1st)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure completion of all sanitation duties as required prior to the end of each shift.

  • Knowledge of and compliance to all sanitation requirements for dish room, pot room, and general kitchen area.

  • Maintains appearance and uniform standards.

  • Garbage removal and clean all the kitchen mats.

  • Spray down and sanitize the back patio.

  • Broiler tines burned off and cleaned.

  • Sweep and mop all the kitchen areas.

  • Change fryer grease every other night as needed.

  • Clean ovens, steam tables, prep areas, grease screens, walls behind stoves and fryers, and ceiling around vents.

  • Maintains open lines of communication with supervisors and line employees.

  • Maintains positive and helpful relationship with all employees.

  • Must be self motivated, show initiative and know what needs to be accomplished.

  • Analyze problems and select a correct course of action.

  • Ability to control waste and maintain area cost (silverware, utensils, china, glassware, chemicals, etc.).

  • Adheres to and enforces all kitchen safety standards.

  • Working knowledge of all area equipment and chemicals.

  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual in a complete uniform for any scheduled shift.

  • Ability to adhere to all Company policies and procedures.

  • Ability to perform any and all tasks requested by supervisor.

Work Location: 

  • Due to the in-person nature of the hospitality business, this position is on-site. RV space with hook ups are available at no cost for employees, limited employee housing at no cost is available on-site and commuting from the local vicinity is also acceptable.    

  • Due to the nature of our business, Zion Mountain Ranch is open every day. You must be prepared to work a schedule which may include Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

  • Ability to organize.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and line employees.

  • Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly.

  • Ability to maintain good, safe sanitary work practices.

  • Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.

  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
