Principal, Enterprise Architecture - Retail

As a Principal Enterprise Architect – Retail, you will play a key role in shaping the technology direction of IAG’s retail insurance business across Australia and New Zealand.

This is a pivotal role sitting at the intersection of business strategy and technology transformation. You’ll take ownership of the architecture vision and roadmap for our retail technology landscape, ensuring our platforms, data and integrations evolve to support growth, innovation and exceptional customer experiences.

Working across our Retail Technology pillar, you’ll collaborate with business and technology leaders to influence decisions that balance speed, flexibility and enterprise-wide scale—while maintaining a clear, future-focused architecture direction. Furthermore, with significant AI-led opportunity, this role is central to evolving IAG’s enterprise ecosystem, integration capabilities and architectural maturity, and to confidently partnering with EGM-level stakeholders.

This is a permanent full-time role based in multiple locations across Australia.

What You'll Do

• Define and drive the target-state architecture for IAG’s retail technology ecosystem
• Own the architecture roadmap, ensuring alignment to business priorities and long-term strategy
• Lead cross-platform thinking—identifying dependencies and ensuring cohesive, scalable solutions
• Partner closely with business stakeholders, solution architects and delivery teams to bring strategy to life
• Identify opportunities to simplify, modernise and innovate across core platforms, digital channels and data capabilities
• Provide thought leadership on emerging trends and technologies shaping retail insurance
• Influence enterprise-wide decisions to ensure investments align to a clear future-state vision

What You'll Bring

• Significant experience in enterprise architecture within complex, multi-platform environments (ideally insurance or financial services)
• Deep expertise across core platforms, digital ecosystems, data and integration architectures
• Proven ability to define architecture strategies and roadmaps and translate them into delivery outcomes
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence without authority
• A balance of strategic thinking and hands-on problem solving
• Understanding of the retail insurance value chain and regulatory environment (AU/NZ experience advantageous)
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience, with Enterprise Architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF) advantageous but not essential
