Description
The Senior Electrical Designer will design and draft electrical engineering systems for a variety of project types including commercial, government, restaurant, industrial, retail centers, office buildings, site/street lighting, and lift stations. Assist on multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to complete tasks on schedule and on budget. Ideal candidate is self-motivated and works effectively in a team or individual situations. Must have excellent communication skills and able to prioritize work activities.
Duties Include
- Collaborate with project teams to develop electrical design concepts, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage systems.
- Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using industry-standard software and design tools.
- Perform calculations and analysis for load sizing, voltage drop, circuit protection, and energy efficiency in compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines, architects, and clients to integrate electrical systems into overall project designs.
- Conduct field surveys and assessments to gather information about existing electrical systems and infrastructure.
- Review and evaluate electrical specifications, equipment submittals, and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers, ensuring the accuracy and quality of their work.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical design technologies, codes, and regulations, and incorporate them into project deliverables.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within a consulting or design firm.
- Proficiency in utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools for electrical design.
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards, such as NEC, NFPA, and IEEE.
- Experience with power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm systems, and low voltage systems.
- Familiarity with electrical system components, equipment, and materials.
