Assistant Cook
Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains and follows the instructions given by the Head Cook to assist in the preparing and serving of daily school lunches.
- Assumes responsibilities of the Head Cook during their absence.
- Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen following the HACCP policy.
- Assists in the preparation of lunches according to a planned menu while following the guidelines of the National School Lunch Program.
- Assists with the daily clean-up of the kitchen and cafeteria following the HACCP policy.
- Helps wipe tables in the cafeteria as needed.
- Can assist or accept weekly food shipments into the school, signing invoices only after each order has been verified and the HACCP policy has been followed for receiving shipments.
- Can assist in taking monthly inventory records of all food and shipments.
- Attends meetings and in-services as requested.
- Must have or be willing to get a Food Safety Managers Sanitation Certification through www.sfhcorp.com
- Supports Teamwork in the kitchen and cafeteria.
- Maintains a pleasant attitude with all staff and students.
- Physical Requirements: lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, and working in hot and cold kitchen conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
Starting pay $15.35/hour
