Position Summary:
Avian, Exotic, and Zoological Medicine Service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Colorado State University is seeking veterinary locum coverage for our department at our FortCollins, CO teaching hospital.
Successful candidates will supervise the clinical service, consisting of residents, house officers, and students.
The service has one dedicated technician and is supported by Anesthesia, ECC, Imaging, and other ancillary services.

Brief Work Unit Description:
The Colorado State University (CSU) Veterinary Teaching Hospital provides 24/7 professional veterinary care to the public, communication with referring veterinarians and education to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Students. The mission of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital is to educate the next generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital also strives to meet the goals of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the University through service, outreach and education of professional veterinary medical students, residents and interns.
Essential Job Duties:
Teaching = 50%
Clinical – clinical effort to the VTH to include active instruction to junior and seniorVeterinary Medical students and participate in the clinical training of interns andresidents rotating through the AEZ service.
Clinical Service = 50%
Clinical Assignment – Provide clinical supervision to the VTH to include participation in the AEZ services and backup support for residents, house officers, and students.
Conditions of Employment:
CSU conducts background checks for the finalist before a final offer. The type of background check conducted varies by position and can include, but is not limited to, criminal history, sex offender registry, motor vehicle history, financial history, and/or education verification. Background checks will also be conducted when required by law or contract and when, in the discretion of the University, it is reasonable and prudent to do so.
Supervision:
Position will supervise the clinical service, consisting of residents, house
officers, and students.
Minimum Qualifications:
DVM or equivalent veterinary professional degree.
Board certification in the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM)
An Academic Veterinary License from CO DORA will be required to practice in this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience instructing veterinary students, interns, and residents in the diagnosis and management of AEZ cases in the clinical setting.
Salary Range
