We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Radiation Diagnostics Scientist to work within our Energy division in support of the diagnostic development program in San Diego, CA. This position under general direction with limited reviews will apply innovative approaches to design and model novel radiation systems for fusion research facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Perform and analyze Monte-Carlo modeling and computational simulations to study diagnostics and associated facilities.
  • Conceptualize, develop, demonstrate and improve modeling efforts for (neutrons, gamma-rays and x-rays).
  • Develop and document data processing and analysis algorithms.
  • Work with scientists, engineers, and technicians to develop, fabricate, integrate, validate models, and implement the diagnostics at research facilities.
  • Document all designs, analyses, test results and conclusions, and communicate results to staff and community via technical presentations and publications.
  • Candidates with modeling background are preferred but experimentalists with modeling experience are encouraged to apply as well.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
