JOB SUMMARY: 

 

The QA/QC Inspector position is Third third-party inspector role; responsible for performing inspections and associated reporting at client vendor locations in Deadhorse, Alaska

A third-party inspection plays a vital role in ensuring safety, reliability, and equipment performance

Inspections and investigations will cover a wide range of equipment including completions components, fishing tools, BHA’s, drill pipe, well head, and various other well-related equipment

The QA/QC Inspector will report to the customer QA/QC Staff Lead, working with the Drilling Engineering, RWO, Drilling Material group, and customer vendors.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visit manufacturing and assembly facilities to monitor, set out, assembly, and testing of downhole tools and jewelry.
  • Coordinate shop visits for the performance of equipment and process inspections at select vendor locations on the North Slope.
  • Generate customer reports within 24 hours after each shop visit, utilizing customer-provided documents, and identifying findings from the visit.
  • Utilize Excel to complete reports.
  • Utilize Teams for file organization and report submittal.
  • Communicate with Drilling and Completion engineers regarding job-specific inspection requirements.
  • Adhere to customer safety practices and guidelines

    Work safely in potentially hazardous shop environments

    Must stop the job if unsafe conditions arise.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

Minimum Education: GED or High School Diploma

 

Experience:

    • 5 Years of Oil and Gas drilling and completion experience.
    • Practical experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly related to drilling and completion downhole tooling for oversight.
    • Ideally, candidates should have experience with DS-1 Standard, API specifications, and previous experience as a Third-Party Inspector

      Drilling and Tubular Thread knowledge with experience make-up connections.

  • Knowledge of Specifications:
    • Inspectors must thoroughly understand industry standards and specifications, including those set by company and organizations like the American Petroleum Institute (API).
    • Must be familiar with API-RP7G, Spec 7, RP 5A5, DS-1, STD 53, Q1, or NS-2 5CT and ISO specifications is preferred.
    • Knowledge of DS-1 Standards, NDT, and API specifications

      Also, must have experience with assembly of completions equipment, Bottom-hole assemblies, fishing equipment, or thread inspection.

  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Skills:
    • Inspectors are not required for this position to have a Level I or Level II certification currently in this role, whereas the primary focus is tooling prior to going downhole.
  • Equipment Calibration and Use:
    • Inspectors need to understand the basics of advanced and calibrated NDT equipment as per the vendors QMS and industry standards.
    • They should be capable of assessing high-stress areas, including connections, slips, upsets, and radius changes and able to adhere to procedures and processes.
  • Impartiality and Integrity:
    • Third-party inspectors must maintain impartiality and avoid any conflicts of interest.
    • Their evaluations should be unbiased and transparent.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Effective communication is essential

      Inspectors should be able to convey findings clearly to relevant parties.

    • Reporting skills are crucial for documenting inspection results.
