Job Description
We are seeking a Team Lead, Cost & Analytics to lead our Cost & Performance Analysis function within Supply Chain. In this role, you will use analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and enhance direct and indirect supply chain processes - driving improved cost management, productivity, and operational decision-making.
As the Cost & Performance Analysis Team Lead, you will be responsible for enabling and guiding your team while working closely with senior specialists and cross-functional leaders to ensure the right work is prioritized at the right time. You will play a critical role in translating complex data into actionable insights that support SCM planning, execution, and long-term strategy.
Strategy & Analysis
- Partner with Supply Chain and ISI leadership to establish strategy and priorities for cost management and performance analysis.
- Review and analyze project activities, factoring in risks, performance results, and key variables to anticipate forecasts and trends.
- Provide insight and analysis to support financial decision-making and performance improvement initiatives.
- Manage project changes from a cost perspective, including documenting changes and managing budgets aligned to approved scope and funding.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce operational and financial risk.
Optimization & Tools
- Enable team success by leveraging a variety of analytical and automation tools, including Microsoft Excel (VBA), SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, and Python, to achieve supply chain objectives.
- Ensure cost management systems and databases are configured to accurately track budgets, commitments, and actual costs.
- Drive the administration, maintenance, and continued development of procurement systems and databases.
- Increase automation and reporting efficiency to enhance operational productivity.
- Develop and deliver new reporting formats and analytical methods to support evolving project and program needs.
Communication & Reporting
- Deliver clear, concise program and cost performance updates to Project and Executive Leadership on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Establish, implement, and enforce data collection policies, processes, and governance standards.
- Document, communicate, and monitor analytical and reporting procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy across the organization.
- Completed post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar).
- 4–7+ years of project management experience in an industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, or shipbuilding environment.
- Proven experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced, complex setting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
- Previous people-leader experience (considered an asset, but not a requirement).
- Green Belt, Black Belt, PMP, and/or CPA Designation considered an asset.
- Experience driving automation, system improvements, or advanced analytics within supply chain or procurement environments.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
