Role: Lead Pharmacy Technician
Location: The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, Central London
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week between Monday-Friday, with contribution to weekend and on-call on a rota basis
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Competitive Depending on Experience (with Excellent Benefits)

We have a exciting opportunity for a Lead Pharmacy Technician to join The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, currently rated “Good” by the CQC. The Portland Hospital is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the healthcare of women and children, caring for more than 40,000 children every year. We have a spacious, modern 18 bed unit within PICU (which has expanded from 9 beds and still growing), equipped with the latest technology and cutting-edge treatment all of which is medically supported by our team of consultants 24/7.

Within the Pharmacy department there is a team of 13 who cover many areas for the hospital. It has a high turn over of inpatient and outpatient requirements covering Surgical, PICU, Medical, Urgent Care, Women's Health and Paediatrics.

The successful postholder will be line managing and working with a team of 4-5 Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants to ensure all aspects of the core operations are delivered, including dispensary, purchasing, stock control and medicines distribution. You will also work closely with the Pharmacy Leadership team to support service development, contribute to workforce planning, and utilise KPIs, audit and financial data to drive continuous improvement across the service.

What you’ll bring:

  • BTEC / NVQ Level 3 qualification in Pharmaceutical Science / Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent) and registered with the GPHC 

  • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) accreditation 

  • Demonstrate experience of working in a hospital pharmacy setting as a registered pharmacy technician

  • Experience providing education & training  

  • Experience supervising junior colleagues
