Victoria, BC
$75,000 – $85,000 a year | Full-time | On-site
Flynn Group of Companies is currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to support our Victoria Branch. This position reports to the Health & Safety Supervisor and acts as the primary safety resource for the branch. This role requires a hands-on, highly responsive individual who is comfortable working independently while supporting crews, leadership, and worksites in real time. This is an on-site Monday-Friday role, split between the office and job sites. Typical working hours range from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility required to accommodate crew start times, training session and site demands.

A Day in the Life
- Deliver weekly new hire safety orientations and ongoing safety training sessions
- Conduct regular site visits and safety inspections
- Identifying potential hazards and risks throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead or assist with incident and accident investigations, including follow-up and corrective actions
- Support injury management and return-to-work processes as they arise
- Facilitate safety information sessions
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable legislation
- Maintain accurate reports, records, and safety documentation
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to safely work at heights and in confined spaces
- Strong English communication skills

Ability to work independently and unsupervised

Comfortable using technology

Ability to pass a background check

1+ year of construction safety-related experience

Education and/or training in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety, NCSO or equivalent experience

Experience with COR audits or audit preparation

Presentation and facilitation skills (PowerPoint, group training)

Experience with incident investigations and injury management

Familiarity with site inspections and working directly with crews
