Job Description
Job Summary
The Mortgage Loan Shipper is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and shipping closed mortgage loan packages to investors in a timely and accurate manner. This role ensures all loan files meet investor, agency, and regulatory requirements prior to funding and purchase. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and experienced in post-closing mortgage operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor closed funded loan reports to ensure complete packages are received from settlement agents, ensure all required documents, at closing conditions, endorsements, assignments, and trailing documents are properly executed• Maintains receipt of the signed Closing Packages from the settlement agents and updates to the LOS accordingly. Follows up to ensure said packages are received timely.• Monitor shipping reports from secondary for daily uploads• Enter loans into Fannie or Freddie mac loan selling system• Review closed loan files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor and agency guidelines, Images documents received with signed closing package into the LOS imaging system as needed.• Receive, prepare and assemble loan packages for shipment to investors, warehouse banks, and custodians. • Acts as a warehouse custodian. Clears all warehouse bank exceptions to ensure timely delivery of original Note to investor.• Onsite Note Vault/ Safe management, Deliver the original Notes to the applicable warehouse banks. Ensure proper Note endorsement and or allonge.• Ship loan packages electronically and/or physically within required timelines, update LOS system for accurate milestones, ship dates, team member etc.• Ensures all original final documents returned with the closing package are forwarded to the Final Document area of Servicing.• Ensures all loans received are registered daily in the MERS system; and other duties as assigned.• Balance MERS registrations monthly.• Communicate with post-closing, funding, quality control, and investor teams to address issues• Track loan shipment status and maintain accurate shipping logs• Submit files for Investor or Agency QC Audit requests within requested time frames.• Ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements• Maintain organized and auditable loan records
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred)• 1–3 years of experience in mortgage post-closing, shipping, or loan operations• Strong knowledge of mortgage loan documents and closing packages• Experience with loan origination systems and document imaging platforms• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment• Strong written and verbal communication skills
