Your Impact

We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented professional to join us as a Specialist, Operational Risk. In this role, you will strengthen how operational risks are identified, assessed, and managed across global operations, supporting safe, sustainable, and efficient outcomes. 

This role is ideal for a proactive and structured thinker who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working with data, risk frameworks, and cross-functional stakeholders. You are highly analytical, capable of translating complex risk information into practical insights, and confident influencing teams to improve performance. Experience in mining or industrial environments, combined with strong communication and problem-solving skills, will enable you to succeed and create meaningful impact. 

Through your work, you will enable better risk-informed decision-making, support safe and sustainable outcomes, and help build capability across sites and functions.

As Part of Our Team, You Will

• Support operational risk frameworks across sites and functions 

• Facilitate risk assessments including bowtie and root cause analysis 

• Maintain and improve operational risk registers 

• Support control performance and assurance activities 

• Analyse risk data and identify trends 

• Engage stakeholders to identify and manage emerging risks 

Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
  • Knowledge of risk management principles, frameworks, and assurance approaches specifically in the operational mining context
  • Operational experience supporting risk assessments, risk analysis, and control evaluation activities
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret data and identify meaningful trends
  • Ability to work within structured systems and processes while applying sound judgement
  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to collaborate across functions and operational teams
  • Degree in safety, sustainability, engineering, business, geoscience, finance, or a related field (preferred)
  • Exposure to operational environments (e.g. mining, industrial, or similar) and an understanding of associated risks (preferred)
  • Familiarity with risk systems, data management, or assurance tools (desirable).
Your Work Environment

You will work within Newmont’s global HSSE function, collaborating with enterprise, business unit, and site-level teams, as well as external consultants. This role involves both independent work and cross-functional engagement to ensure governance and risk processes are consistently applied.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
