Job Description: Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher

This position is working with elementary students who meet criteria for special education under the Deaf and Hard of Hearing category. This includes providing specialized instruction in communication, language development, and literacy, as well as assisting with work completion and teaming with mainstream teachers. The DHH teacher will collaborate with educational audiologists, interpreters, and other service providers during the day to meet student needs and ensure environmental accessibility.

 

License & Experience:

  • Licensed Teacher: Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the State of Minnesota
  • Knowledge and experience working with students with hearing loss and their specific special education needs
  • Experience working with elementary students and families

 

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience completing due process and following timeline requirements of special education
  • Experience completing Part B evaluations, including assessing communication modes and functional hearing within the educational setting
  • Must be able to assure and implement state and federal laws, statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to special education
  • Team-oriented approach when working with students, colleagues, families, and administrators
  • Effective communication and teaming skills, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community staff (including proficiency in the student's primary mode of communication)
  • Establishes a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs, and the strategic plan of the district
  • Inspires and engages all students in relevant learning through differentiated instruction and assistive technology
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students, staff, and families
  • Experience working with diverse students and families�experience/training with methods preferred


Salary Range: $44,182 - $90,327 for 1 FTE  per the current Faculty Master Agreement 2023-2025
