PURPOSE SITA for Aircraft is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to drive the design, implementation, and evolution of its Enterprise Data Platform built on Databricks. This role combines technical leadership, platform architecture, and hands-on engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with the Product Owner to define and deliver the platform roadmap while establishing the technical foundations required to scale the team and the platform over time. As one of the first dedicated resources on the platform, the Technical Lead will be expected to actively build solutions, establish engineering standards, and make day-to-day technical implementation decisions. The platform will become the foundation for governed data products, self-service analytics, AI/ML initiatives, operational data consumption, and enterprise reporting capabilities across SITA for Aircraft. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Leadership Act as the technical leader of the Enterprise Data Platform Scrum Team. Partner with the Product Owner to translate business priorities into technical solutions. Drive technical decisions and establish platform standards. Define architecture principles, engineering practices, and implementation patterns. Lead design reviews and ensure consistency across platform components. Platform Engineering Design, develop, and maintain core platform capabilities on Databricks. Build ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and data sharing solutions. Implement and optimize data pipelines using Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Databricks-native services. Design and implement data products and reusable platform services. Contribute directly to platform development activities and proof-of-concepts. Governance & Security Implement governance-by-design using Unity Catalog, metadata, lineage, and access controls. Define standards for data quality, lifecycle management, and schema evolution. Ensure secure and governed access to enterprise data assets. Collaborate with Security and Data Governance stakeholders to enforce compliance requirements. Team Development Mentor future Data Engineers joining the team. Establish engineering standards and best practices. Support recruitment and technical assessment of future team members. Qualifications EXPERIENCE Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, or Data Architecture. Strong hands-on experience with Databricks in production environments. Strong experience with Spark, PySpark, SQL, and modern data engineering practices. Experience designing and building cloud-native data platforms on Azure. Experience implementing Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, and data governance controls. Experience building scalable batch and streaming data pipelines. Strong understanding of data products, metadata management, lineage, and platform governance. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS Databricks certifications. Experience with Data Products, Data Mesh, or modern data platform operating models. Experience with Power BI integration and semantic data models. Experience supporting AI/ML workloads and analytics platforms. Experience in aviation or similar operational industries is a plus.
