A rare and exciting position is now available in our Liability team for an Underwriter to support and grow the liability insurance product in the Benelux region
This is a key role for a motivated professional with a robust background in liability underwriting, capable of operating autonomously, providing expert judgment, and contributing to strategic initiatives
At the crux of this role is the ability to underwrite liability risks and support Brokers/Clients in understanding our product and finding tailor-made solutions for the individual Client
All with a chance to develop within the insurance industry in a supportive team led by experienced industry professionals
This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime
What you’ll be DOING What will your essential
include
Underwriting and growing the Benelux Liability insurance portfolio
Taking initiatives to generate new business opportunities with minimal supervision
Working collaboratively in a team environment, assisting underwriters, underwriting assistants and management team
Drive profitable growth while achieving the liability budget figures
Develop and implement strategic plans with the liability team and underwriting manager, proactively identifying market trends and underwriting issues
Ensure workflow and service standards
Oversee business development, generate submission flow to meet specific targets, and identify up-sell/cross-sell opportunities initiatives with other lines of businesses
Anticipate market trends and keep track of specific underwriting issues
Develop customer relationship management initiatives in coordination with Client Distribution Leaders, particularly with Risk Managers of main Benelux corporations
Interact and manage relationships with other product lines and support areas locally in Benelux, particularly claims to ensure adequate communication
Developing the offering to this segment and executing on AXA XL Liability’s expansion plans for the region
Proactively advising, servicing and following up with clients on insurance and risk management matters, and actively identifying opportunities for cross-selling AXA XL’s products
Assisting in the introduction of new products where opportunities arise
You will report to the Underwriting Manager Casualty Benelux
BRING We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Knowledge of the insurance market and some liability underwriting and sales experience, with recognized knowledge and abilities overall with liability insurance
Preferred bachelor/university degree in engineering, finance/business, law, insurance or other related fields, or qualification by experience
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Passionate about doing business, negotiating and driving growth in a competitive market
A natural business developer who enjoys being out in the market, with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills and a keen appetite for closing the deal
Attention to detail, good organizational skills and the confidence to present to brokers and clients; ability to prioritize with both individual and the team’s best interests in mind
High working capacity and resistance to pressure
A teamplayer with an open mind, with an ambition to learn and grow, with the ability to work without supervision
Ability to develop strategic initiatives, contribute to policy development, and improve operational efficiency through continuous process improvements
Fluent in spoken and written Dutch and English
