Job Description
We are seeking an Occupational Safety Technician to join our team. Based in Sorocaba, Brazil, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and controlling risks, while promoting the prevention of accidents and occupational illnesses. You will develop educational initiatives, conduct field inspections, investigate incidents, track safety performance indicators, and support management in creating HSE programs and policies. Responsibilities include audits, training, team supervision, non-conformity management, and strategic reporting of safety indicators and actions to management.
1. Training and Development
Training new safety technicians, ensuring alignment with internal procedures and legal requirements. Disseminating HSE best practices and a safety culture across projects.
2. Audits and Field Inspections
Conducting safety audits with field teams to verify compliance with standards, procedures, and applicable regulations.
3. Project Deliverable Management
Assisting in the preparation and control of project HSE documentation, with support from the document analyst. Ensuring adherence to deadlines and the quality of contractually required deliverables.
4. HSE Monitoring and Control
Continuous monitoring of technicians. Managing and updating consolidated lists of pending items and actions (follow-up).
5. Reporting and Communication
Preparing and presenting weekly project overviews with technicians, highlighting indicators, progress, risks, and HSE actions. Maintaining clear communication with stakeholders regarding the status of safety activities.
6. Meeting Participation
Participating in project kick-off meetings to ensure initial alignment on HSE guidelines. Participating in periodic progress meetings focused on the follow-up (FUP) of safety actions.
Participating in Critical Improvement Analysis (ACM) sessions, contributing insights and solutions.
Preparing and immediately submitting reports or equivalent documents covering discussed topics to the Coordination team for their review. 7. Non-Conformity Management
Handling non-conformities in collaboration with project technicians. Developing and monitoring action plans jointly with the coordination team. Ensuring the implementation and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
8. Periodic Activities and Critical Demands
Presenting a weekly overview of ongoing activities. Acting promptly in emergency situations by immediately notifying the HSE Coordinator and following their guidance. Issuing reports to the coordination team immediately following site visits, audits, and inspections. Executing extraordinary and strategic tasks, always subject to prior alignment.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an individual with the following skills and motivations:
• Technical qualification in Occupational Safety (completed); higher education degree desirable.
• Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Initiative.
• Occupational safety awareness.
• Teamwork skills.
• Quality orientation.
• Availability for frequent travel (fieldwork).
Specific Knowledge
• Up-to-date HSE certifications/training.
• Regulatory Standards (NRs)—specifically NR-01, NR-06, NR-10, NR-11, NR-12, NR-18, NR-33, and NR-35.
• Non-conformity management and action plans (5W2H, PDCA).
• Safety performance indicators (HSE KPIs).
• Labor and social security legislation applicable to occupational safety.
• IT tools (Excel, PowerPoint, and general platforms).
