Salary Range:

$14.00 - $50.00DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK Part-time Teachers provide instruction and leadership based on selected academic and literary program components. Teachers ensure that the participants’ progress toward education benchmarks as described in the curriculum through basic skills instruction. Assist in or lead homework and literacy activities. ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES • Assess and track student performance. • Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and courteous manner. • Work with staff and other Education and Community Services personnel to ensure successful program implementation at a site level. • Attend required trainings as needed for proper implementation of literacy activities. • Uphold all City of Hialeah policies and procedures including those related to safety and risk management. • Perform any other tasks assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Teacher in the State of Florida. • Certified Bilingual – preferred. • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to provide leadership and to teach children. • Attend required training sessions to implement program components. • Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident alien. • Able to implement literacy components and provide instruction to children. • Able to implement subject-based curriculum as assigned. • Must have completed the 55-hour Child Care Training Courses verified by Child Care Training Transcript within in first 6 months of hire. • Can exempt some of these classes by submitting the Staff Credential Verification. • This position year-round and would be required to work both afterschool and summer program time frame. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The following are some of the physical requirements associated with this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made by the City to enable an individual to perform the essential duties/functions of the position. • Must have ability to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, stand, hear, hands to finger dexterity, handle, feel or operate objects, read and write English. • Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment; such as but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier and fax machines. • Work is performed indoors within a quiet to moderately noisy environment. • Must be able to lift, carry and or push articles weighing up to 20 lbs. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE • Certified Teacher in the State of Florida • Bilingual is preferred. • Must attend required training sessions to implement program components. • Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident alien.
