
National Head of Claims Faith and Education Practice
Job Description
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Claims Advocacy team at Marsh Risk as the National Head of Faith & Education Claims - Australia working in our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
National Head of Faith & Education Claims
We will count on you to:
Lead and manage end-to-end handling and escalation of complex Faith & Education claims, providing strategic coverage advice and ensuring timely progression from notification to closure.
Engage and negotiate with insurers, their advisers, brokers and other external stakeholders to resolve coverage issues and protect client outcomes.
Provide technical leadership: mentor the claims team, coordinate with the Mumbai Centre of Excellence, and ensure consistent, high-quality claims delivery across Australia.
Drive claims strategy, KPIs and process improvements (systems, reporting, compliance) to improve efficiency, data quality and control of total cost of risk.
Produce clear client communications and analyses (coverages, claims calculations, trend data) to support decision making and future risk mitigation.
What you need to have:
ANZIIF, Tier 1 or equivalent insurance qualification and a minimum of 10 years’ insurance claims management experience, ideally focused on Faith & Education or similar sectors.
At least 5 years’ demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and influencing cross‑functional stakeholders.
Deep technical knowledge of insurance policies across general lines, coverage analysis and complex claims handling.
Strong client relationship, communication and negotiation skills with a proven track record engaging insurers and brokers.
Ability to analyse claims data and translate findings into actionable risk and cost-management recommendations.

Experience working with a Centre of Excellence model or across APAC operations, including remote/offshore team coordination.
Proven success in driving process, systems or reporting improvements that increased operational efficiency.
Experience supporting tenders/presentations with claims data and insights to win and retain business.
Strong strategic leadership and change management skills with a focus on continuous learning and team development.
Familiarity with regulatory/compliance requirements and implementing controls to protect clients and the business.
