Qualifications
- State of Connecticut Special Education Teacher Certification required.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.

- Provides individualized and small-group instruction to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
- Collaborates with relevant staff to identify, monitor, and support students who are considered “at-risk.”
- Partners with classroom teachers to design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Utilizes developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula and instructional materials aligned to grade-level benchmarks and state learning expectations.
- Delivers instruction using a variety of strategies that engage students, present new concepts clearly, and encourage exploration, expression, and independent thinking.
- Modifies instructional plans as needed to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
- Administers, collects, and analyzes qualitative and quantitative assessment data to inform instruction and monitor progress.
- Builds strong relationships with families through consistent communication about the progress of at-risk and IEP students, and provides guidance on how families can support learning at home.
- Participates in school-wide assessment processes to help identify student needs and inform instruction.
- Provides teachers with resources, strategies, and recommendations to support effective intervention and differentiation in the classroom.
- Refers students for additional special services when appropriate and follows required procedures.
- Participates in IEP meetings to develop, review, and revise student plans and recommend appropriate supports.
- Maintains organized records of student progress and ensures reporting is accurate and up to date.
- Demonstrates understanding of federal and state Special Education laws and advocates for students’ rights and needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Salary Range: $53,235 – $118,163. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
