Public Area Attendant | Marriott Colorado Springs
A guest’s impression of a hotel is formed long before they ever reach their room. It starts the moment they walk through the front door. The lobby is spotless. The corridors are fresh and inviting. The elevator is clean. The public restrooms are impeccable. Every space they pass through on their way to settle in tells them something about this property and the standard we hold. That impression belongs to you.
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented, and people-first Public Area Attendant to join our Housekeeping team at the Marriott Colorado Springs. If you take genuine pride in keeping shared spaces clean, presentable, and welcoming for every guest who passes through them, and you want to be part of a team that values and recognizes the work you do every day, this is the right place for you.
About the Role
As a Public Area Attendant, you are responsible for the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of all public spaces throughout the hotel, including lobbies, corridors, elevator banks, public restrooms, stairwells, service areas, and floor pantries. You are also a key support resource for our room attendants, helping with linen distribution, supply restocking, special deliveries to guest rooms, and assist with heavy lifting during deep cleaning projects.
You will be moving throughout the entire property on every shift, which means you will encounter guests regularly. The warmth, professionalism, and genuine helpfulness you bring to those interactions are just as important as the quality of the cleaning you perform. You are part of what turns a guest stay from acceptable to truly memorable.
This role also offers a real pathway for growth within the housekeeping department. Associates who demonstrate skill, consistency, and commitment have the opportunity to advance into room attendant roles and beyond. We invest in the people who show up and show what they are capable of.
Weekend availability is required for this role. Hotel housekeeping operates seven days a week and the public areas of this property need to look exceptional every single day.
What You’ll Be Doing
Walking all assigned floors at the beginning and end of each shift to collect bags, trash, and soiled linen, ensuring public corridors and service areas are clean and guest-ready at all times
Cleaning all public areas of the hotel in the prescribed manner and in accordance with department standard operating procedures, including lobbies, corridors, elevator banks, public restrooms, stairwells, and other shared spaces
Picking up clean linen from the laundry area and refilling the par stock of linen on each floor pantry to ensure room attendants always have what they need to complete their assignments
Refilling the par stock of guest amenities and supplies on each floor pantry throughout the shift so the housekeeping team is never waiting on supplies
Delivering towels, cribs, cots, rollaway beds, and other items to guest rooms upon request, doing so promptly and with a friendly, professional demeanor
Removing soiled linen and trash from all service areas and transporting them to the appropriate locations in the prescribed manner throughout the shift
Assisting room attendants with heavy lifting during super cleaning and spring cleaning of guest rooms
Performing duties of a room attendant when necessary and as directed by housekeeping leadership
Engaging with guests encountered throughout the property in a warm, helpful, and professional manner, checking in on their stay and addressing any immediate needs
Responding to all guest and team member requests in a friendly and helpful manner without exception
Reporting any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual conditions observed throughout the property to the appropriate team promptly
Maintaining your housekeeping cart and all equipment in a clean, organized, and properly stocked condition throughout the shift
Following all proper procedures for the use and handling of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment in accordance with SDS requirements and safety training
Working collaboratively with room attendants, laundry, and maintenance to support the overall housekeeping operation
What We’re Looking For
A neat, pleasant, and professional demeanor that reflects well on the property in every guest and team interaction
Strong attention to detail; you notice what needs attention and you take care of it without being reminded
Good time management skills and the ability to move efficiently through your assigned areas throughout the shift
Effective communication skills with guests, supervisors, and fellow team members
A genuine team-first attitude; the housekeeping operation runs as a team and your contribution matters to everyone around you
The ability to stay on your feet and remain active and productive for the full duration of a shift
Comfortable working independently and managing your time effectively to complete all assigned areas
Weekend availability is required; this is a non-negotiable part of the role
Previous hotel or housekeeping experience is preferred but not required; we will train the right person
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
Previous hotel or housekeeping experience is preferred but not required
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members
Ability to stand, walk, and remain active on your feet for the full duration of a shift
Ability to move, bend, stretch, and reach corners at floor level and at elevated heights throughout the property
Ability to safely navigate and push carts weighing up to 100 lbs. in tight spaces including corridors and elevators
Ability to lift, carry, and position loads of at least 25 lbs.
Comfortable operating equipment including spray bottles, vacuums, mops, brooms, dustpans, scrub pads, and dusters
Able to observe conditions throughout the property and detect odors or cleanliness issues that need attention
Flexible availability including weekends; weekend availability is required for this position
A professional appearance and demeanor consistent with Marriott brand standards
Physical Requirements
This is a highly physical, active role for the full duration of every shift. You should be comfortable standing and moving continuously throughout the property, bending and stretching to reach corners at floor level and elevated heights, pushing and navigating carts up to 100 lbs. in tight spaces, and lifting and carrying loads of at least 25 lbs. You will be covering a significant amount of ground each shift, so physical stamina and comfort with sustained activity are essential to performing this role well.
Who Thrives Here
The Public Area Attendants who do their best work here are the ones who take genuine ownership of the spaces they are responsible for. They do not walk past something that needs attention. They notice the detail others miss. They keep their floor pantries stocked before a room attendant has to ask. They deliver a cot to a guest room with the same warmth and professionalism they would want if they were the guest.
They also understand that their work is part of the larger guest experience, even when it goes unnoticed. A lobby that looks flawless at 7am did not happen by accident. It happened because someone took pride in it. If you are someone who finds real satisfaction in knowing a space is exactly as it should be and in being the person your team can count on to keep it that way, you are going to thrive here.
