POSITION: Entry Level Mechanical, Electrical, Physics Engineer for Controls PLC programing

What You Will Do:

Work with a team of Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal and Network engineers in developing control systems. The team works together closely in programing and testing control logic for industrial systems. The team will use simulations to test and represent real world operational conditions of electrical power plants.

Job functions include:

  • Desired Experience in programming controllers, like an Arduino, Allen Bradly, Siemens, GE Vie or any Industrial controllers with HMI interface. 
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation circuits, ex thermocouples, pressure transmitters, 
  • Reading logic diagrams and programing ladder logic from them
  • Reviewing wiring diagrams for instrumentation installs
  • Interpret P&ID/Electrical Schematics and experience with basic instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with design engineers of various disciplines to develop control system requirements 
  • Support Field Engineering Services in technical resolution of field problems
  • Providing input to quality assurance on projects
  • Review and interpret customer specifications on mechanical systems
  • Operational Knowledge of Steam or Gas Turbine Power Plants
  • Ability to interpret functional requirements and translate into control logic.
  • Ability to interpret P&ID/Electrical Schematics and experience with basic instrumentation

What You Will Bring:

  • Preferred Hands-on experience programming controllers, GE Mark V, VI, VIe series turbine control and Cimplicity HMI software or other industry related controllers. 
  • Demonstrate experience working in the industrial controls or power generation industry
  • Have a fundamental understanding of Steam Turbine and Power Plant construction
  • Technical skills in engineering design and construction practices
  • Proven team player with solid cooperation, flexibility and demonstrated capacity to learn complex information quickly
  • Field experience in related equipment
  • Strong organizational / project execution skills and prior success in working with or leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and lead others
  • Passion for continuous learning and a passion for how systems work.

Pay Range: $65000-$75,000 a year

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements:

We offer flexible work options, including hybrid arrangements, to support the need of the role and align with company policies. This position is located in posted locations, and may be considered hybrid based on local regulations.

  • You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.

Work Experience

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Working with instrumentation and control systems for industrial equipment.
  • Develop Steam Turbine and Plant control logic for power plant applications.
  • Reading logic diagrams and programing from them
  • Reviewing wiring diagrams for instrumentation installs
  • Collaborate with design engineers of various disciplines to develop control system requirements
  • Support Field Engineering Services in technical resolution of field problems
  • Providing input to quality assurance on projects
  • Review and interpret customer specifications on mechanical systems
  • Lead projects with ultimate responsibility for quality and on-time deliverables

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • BS degree Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Demonstrate technical capabilities via college lab work 
  • Operational Knowledge of Logic functions, Logic Gates, PID Control, Feeback loops.
  • Basic knowledge industrial equipment such as: motors, pumps, valves
  • Ability to interpret functional requirements and translate into control logic.
  • Ability to interpret P&ID/Electrical Schematics and experience with basic instrumentation.
  • Preferred experience with commercial control products, like GE, SIEMENS, AB, ABB, .
  • Preferred experience with HMI Displays such as LabView

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to read piping and instrumentation drawings (P&ID)
  • Ability to program using logic gates
  • Mechanical understanding of pumps and valves 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Mostly in Office work, work from home on occasion
  • Work closely with a team of 3-4 engineers 
  • Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
  • Flexibility to meet business deadlines when necessary by staying late or arriving early.

Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks /
