Perform the full range of plumbing duties such as installing, repairing, and modifying water supply, sewage disposal, gas distribution, airlines and similar utility systems and equipment. Independently installs, modifies, repairs and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment. Plans and accomplishes work from initial layouts to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics. Complete other duties as assigned
Responsibilities

- Correctly and efficiently completes installation, modification and repairs of various plumbing systems and equipment, e.g., replaces defective pipes, fittings, fixtures, and valves.
- Accurately tests completed work for proper drainage, flow and venting
- Properly measures, fabricates and installs odd size adjoining parts and/or improvises installations when blueprints and sketches do not provide sufficient Information.
- Properly uses, maintains, and accounts for all types of hand and/or power tools as required, to accomplish assigned duties.
- Skill in the use of any of the accepted trade methods and techniques, such as wiping and pouring lead joints, seating equipment, and installing any combinations of couplings, unions, and joint need for proper operation of the systems.
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fitting using coupling, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves and water heaters and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fitting equipment to join plumbing to fixtures
- Be able to perform on call duties after normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Evidence of completion of trade school and/or a minimum of Four (4) years of apprenticeship training preferred.
- Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years plumbing and/or mechanical-pipefitting systems experience,
- Skills:
- Ability to work extended periods of times, shift work, and on-call.
- Able to plan, order material and coordinate work with Supervisors and customers.
- Ability to work alone or work in a team environment.
- Possess excellent oral, written, and communication skills.
- Ability to address a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to execute on multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to interact with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.
- Working Conditions:
- Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 85 degrees in the summer months).
- Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
- The worker is frequently in close quarters, crawl spaces, shafts, man holes, small enclosed rooms, small sewage and line pipes, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
- Physical Requirements:
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
- Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
- Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
