This role serves as the program leader and primary developer for multiple organizational safety and compliance programs. The position is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving safety initiatives that protect employees, patients, and the environment while ensuring regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:
-Lead and manage the Hazardous Materials Management Program, overseeing the full lifecycle (“cradle to grave”) of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and hazardous waste.
-Develop and administer the Research Laboratory Safety Program, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.
Serve as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the facility, maintaining the -Chemical Hygiene Plan and ensuring laboratory safety standards are upheld.
-Investigate, classify, and analyze employee incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
-Leverage workforce safety data and trends to proactively identify risk areas and develop targeted programs to reduce incidents and enhance safety performance.
-Actively participate as a member of the Workforce Safety Committee, contributing to strategy, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
-Conduct and support Environment of Care / Physical Environment rounding in alignment with Joint Commission requirements, including data tracking and analysis.
-Promote and integrate High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles into all aspects of the Occupational and Environmental Safety (OES) program to improve consistency, accountability, and risk reduction.

Starting salary is $103,034.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience1. Doctorate degree in a relevant field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time professional work experience in a safety related capacity; or
2. Master’s degree in a relevant field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time professional work experience in a safety related capacity.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
-2 or more years’ experience managing a hazardous materials program in a healthcare or research facility
-2 or more years’ experience with Environment of Care/Physical Environment Joint Commission management in a healthcare facility
