Your role at Baxter
This position will be based in Costa Rica and will be part of the Corporate Tax function. As an Indirect Tax Analyst, you will support U.S. indirect tax compliance by working closely with the Baxter U.S. tax team and external advisors to prepare accurate and timely indirect tax and regulatory filings. In this role, you will assist with audit support and respond to related inquiries while collaborating with collaborators in the U.S and Costa Rica. This position is well-suited for a professional with 1–3 years of relevant experience who demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and is fluent in English to successfully communicate with U.S.-based counterparts.

What you'll be doing
Prepare, review, and reconcile data extracts to general ledger accounts.
Calculate monthly use tax amounts and coordinate/validate information with local collaborators.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax return filings such as sales and use and business/occupation (“B&O”) returns across multiple jurisdictions.
Handle and maintain business licenses and registrations to ensure compliance with state and local regulations including performing annual analyses to help determine monthly accrual amounts.
Maintain tracking logs for indirect tax activities including payments, refunds, and notices.
Process indirect tax payments in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepare and record indirect tax journal entries.
Support indirect tax audits by compiling data and responding to information requests.
Perform basic tax research to support compliance and business inquiries.
Help support tax automation systems and ERP platforms including the occasional maintenance of sales and use taxability engines.
Chip in to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, controls, and efficiency
What you'll bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or Tax or a related field.
2 years of experience in tax, accounting, or finance.
Exposure to indirect tax processes and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP, Vertex) preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (B2-C1 level)
Solid analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage tasks under time constraints.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
