Job Description

First Class Maintenance operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, mobile equipment and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. Ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment to assist in repairs. 

  • Take lead during emergency breakdowns and make necessary repairs to get plant back running as soon and safely as possible.
  • Take lead on major shutdowns. Direct helpers to accomplish necessary tasks to complete job.
  • Assist maintenance supervisors in planning of major jobs.

     

  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Assist plant operations and other maintenance personnel as required.
  • Ability and willingness to progress thru Maintenance grades up to Repairman First Class.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • High school Diploma and GED Required. 
  • Must possess a valid NJ driver's license.
  • Pass a mechanical basic skills test.
  • High level of safety and quality.
  • Ability to troubleshoot all plant equipment without supervision.
  • Train other mechanics on skills needed to progress to Repairman First Class.
  • Ability to fabricate from drawings or replacement of existing equipment.
  • Ability to multi-task at a fast-pace (at times), work in outside conditions during all seasons, climb multi-levels by stairs & ladders, work from elevated platforms, use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.)
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Knowledge - Preferred.
  • Forklift experience - Preferred.
  • Computer Software - Preferred.
  • Warehouse experience - Preferred.
