About the business area/department
The Platform Foundations & Services organization is responsible for delivering reliable, scalable, secure, and innovative platform capabilities that power critical business services across Amadeus. Our Platform Engineering teams develop and operate cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes services, automation frameworks, and infrastructure capabilities used globally by engineering teams.
As part of a highly collaborative international organization, we work closely with stakeholders across Europe, the Americas, and India to drive platform standardization, operational excellence, automation, and the adoption of modern engineering practices at scale.
Summary of the role
We are seeking an experienced SRE Manager, to lead a team of Platform and Site Reliability Engineers responsible for Kubernetes-based platforms and related infrastructure services.
The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership skills with a solid technical foundation in Platform Engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies. This role requires the ability to operate successfully within a complex global matrix organization, partnering with architects, principal engineers, product managers, business owners, and engineering leaders across multiple regions.
The successful candidate will drive execution, develop talent, coordinate complex cross-functional initiatives, and help shape the future of our platform strategy while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
In this role you'll
- Lead and develop a team of Platform Engineers and SREs supporting Kubernetes-based platforms and infrastructure services.
- Foster a culture of ownership, automation, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, architects, product owners, and engineering leaders to define and execute platform roadmaps.
- Manage priorities, capacity planning, staffing, and delivery commitments across multiple initiatives and programs.
- Drive adoption of Platform Engineering principles, SRE practices, automation, and cloud-native technologies.
- Support the operation and evolution of Kubernetes platforms, including OpenShift and other Kubernetes distributions.
- Coordinate complex projects involving multiple organizations, regions, and business stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment with security, compliance, governance, reliability, and operational requirements.
- Champion Agile and SAFe ways of working, helping teams deliver value predictably and efficiently.
- Develop organizational capabilities through mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
- Facilitate communication and alignment between local teams and global leadership.
- Monitor service health, operational performance, risks, and continuous improvement opportunities.
About the ideal candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, platform engineering, SRE, or related technology domains.
- 3+ years of people management experience leading technical teams.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts, architecture, operations, and ecosystem components.
- Proven ability to lead within a global matrix organization, influencing stakeholders across different reporting structures, geographies, and cultures.
- Experience managing complex programs and cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.
- Coaching, mentoring, and talent development capabilities.
- Solid understanding of Platform Engineering concepts, developer platforms, automation, and cloud-native operating models.
- Good understanding of infrastructure fundamentals, including operating systems, networking, storage, backup, and disaster recovery principles.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies (SAFe is preferred).
- Great English communication skills.
