Rehab Aide
Job Description
The Rehabilitative Services Aide (HA 2) reports to the therapists of a particular service or discipline (OT/PT/SLP) and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. At this level, the employee is responsible for the treatment of patients who require the direct supervision and daily guidance of an Occupational, Physical and/or Speech therapist. The Rehabilitative Services Aide works primarily with adult, geriatric, adolescent patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although pediatric patients may be treated if the Rehab Aide has completed required competency training. The Rehabilitative aide actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in-services and staff development activities.

75% | YES | PATIENT CARE RESPONSIBILITIES a. Treats patient under the direct supervision of an Occupational or Physical Therapist b. Assists therapists with patient care activities. c. Assists the therapist with discharge planning. d. Plan, coordinates and distributes patient schedules. e. Responsible for the transport of patients to and from therapy. f. Prepares, maintains and transmits accurate patient care records as required, including services rendered and progress notes. g. Communicates effectively and efficiently with patients, families, department staff, managers and other UCSF personnel. h. Demonstrates effective time management skills in all aspects of position including patient care activities and clerical duties within a standard work day. |
15% | YES | Departmental Responsibilities 1. Completes work-related routine departmental tasks (e.g. timecard completion, schedule sign-up) in a timely manner. 2. Communicates clearly and in a timely manner with Supervisor and Manager regarding work requirements including changes in availability/status, completion of UC required learning. 3. Responsible for the maintenance of equipment including stocking and tracking of equipment. 4. Assists with clerical or reception duties. 5. Performs any other duties, as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager. 6. Represents the department as a professional. |

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Prior clinical-based experience requiring interaction with patients.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Ability to recognize signs of distress.
Possession of a high school diploma.
Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
Possession of excellent interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills.
Ability to work at all UCSF sites
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current American Heart Association CPR certification
