Title: Primary Care Physician Fellow
Location: Varies; sites are located in the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn
Hours: M-W 8-4 clinical time; additional half day for research and projects (0.7 FTE)
Reports to: Medical Director, Primary Care
Salary: $133,900
Position Overview:
The Primary Care Physician Fellow, in collaboration with Montefiore’s Homeless Healthcare Fellowship, works as a primary care provider while also receiving didactics related to homeless healthcare. As a physician, this position is responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of patients within the scope of the Health Center.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The essential duties of the Primary Care Physician include but are not limited to the following activities:
Provides medical diagnoses, treatment and advice to patients in accordance with New York State regulations and the scope of training of the clinician.
Responsible for consulting with the appropriate medical specialists, when deemed necessary according to the Health Center protocol.
Prescribes and/or dispenses required medication to patients.
Performs shelter history and physical examinations per DHS requirements
Provides medical oversight for the clinical team
Participates in quality improvement initiatives and quality assurance programs
Contributes to the overall functioning of the department.
Maintains patient records in accordance with the policies of the department.
Maintains all New York State and federal licensing requirements as current according with the department’s credentialing policy.
Maintains current certification in Basic Life Support
Completes 30 annual Continuing Medical Education credits.
Participates in Departmental meetings and conferences.
In addition to the above, as a Fellow this role also includes quality improvement work culminating in a final project, and regular attendance at scheduled didactic sessions and rotational experiences as per Montefiore’s Fellowship requirements.
Qualifications:
New York State (MD, DO,) License and Registration
Board Certification or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
Commitment to community-based health care services
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
