Title: Front Desk Supervisor
Program: St. Nicholas House
Salary: $43,000 - $46,500 per year
Program Description:
St. Nicholas is a congregate care supportive housing program located in Upper Manhattan. St. Nicholas provides permanent, affordable, supportive housing to 94 single adults of whom 61 are formerly homeless men and women referred through DHS. St. Nicholas is funded by DOHMH and DHS. Of those 61 clients, 40 are diagnosed with a chronic mental health issue and 21 are in recovery from substance use issues. The remaining 33 units are “fair market” and reserved for low-income tenants, referred from the local community.
Overall Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the Program Director and with some latitude for independent action, the Front Desk Supervisor oversees a team of front desk clerks and ensures the safety, rule compliance, and day-to-day operational support for tenants and staff. The supervisor performs administrative, supervisory, and direct service functions and plays a critical role in emergency response coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all Front Desk Attendant duties, including monitoring security and supporting resident inquiries.
Oversee daily facility operations and manage emergency situations.
Supervise and train front desk staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service.
Create and maintain the front desk staff schedule on a weekly basis.
Review and document incident reports to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Review the logbook each shift to ensure thorough communication and documentation.
Provide crisis intervention and share critical information with relevant staff and supervisors.
Participate in on-call coverage for the facility on a rotating basis with the Clinical Coordinator and Program Director.
Report directly to the Program Director and support administrative functions as needed.
Collaborate on the development and implementation of program improvements, policies, and strategic planning initiatives.
Administer emergency first aid/CPR/Naloxone when necessary.
Work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Clinical Director.
Physical Requirements:
The Front Desk Supervisor must be able to:
Move between floors of the facility regularly.
Stand, sit at a computer for extended periods, bend, reach, squat, and retrieve records.
Climb and work on ladders up to 12 feet high.
Lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience working with homeless or formerly homeless populations, and individuals with mental health and substance use challenges.
Completion of Fire Safety Training preferred.
Training in De-escalation and Cultural Competency required.
Opioid Overdose Prevention training preferred.
