About the role
We are about to recruit an APAC Senior Tax Manager based in Shanghai, reporting to APAC Tax Lead. The role will oversee direct tax matters for APAC jurisdictions, collaborating closely with the global tax compliance team, finance hub team and cross-functional departments to secure regional tax compliance, identify tax optimization opportunities and control tax risks.
Key responsibilities
· Partner and provide tax support to the business. Regular catch up with internal and external stakeholders. Delivery tax advisory for M&A, business changes, restructuring, and other business or global projects.
· Review the direct tax compliance works and returns across APAC operating markets, including Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Tax, Stamp Duty, and other direct tax related items. With the support from global tax compliance partner, ensure the on-time and accurate tax filing, tax payment, and statutory tax reporting in accordance with local tax laws and regulations.
· Manage tax audits through effective and efficient ways of working to reduce the financial and reputational impact to Haleon.
· Review and identify the tax risks, formulate mitigation plans and support the execution of remedial actions.
· Review, identify and execute tax optimization initiatives on a recurring basis.
· Track, analyse and interpret the latest tax law amendments across APAC markets. Evaluate the business impact, and provide tax insights.
· Review group tax reporting regarding effective tax rate, cash tax balance, and deferred tax assets.
· Partner with global TP team to drive rollout of global TP policies across APAC markets, and partner with global treasury team to provide tax inputs regarding APAC entities’ dividend repatriation to parent shareholders.
· Conduct periodic reviews on the cash tax forecast throughout the year to align with global tax strategy.
Qualifications and skills
· CPA or CTA certificate
· Proficient English in writing and speaking
· At least 7-year working experience in Big 4 on tax consulting. Combined Big 4 plus MNC in-house tax background is preferred.
· Deep understanding of China tax law and experience on international tax cross APAC jurisdictions
· Excellent cross-functional communication, stakeholder management, and strong personal influencing skills
· Strong capability to manage multi-tasks and deliver at pace
· Industry experience within FMCG, consumer healthcare products and / or pharmaceuticals is a strong plus
