The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Deputy Fire Chief Operations Manager to join the Boeing Fire Department team in Everett, WA

The Boeing Fire Department is the world’s largest industrial fire department, providing comprehensive emergency response, fire prevention, technical rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, and emergency medical services across Boeing operations. The Everett Fire Department supports one of Boeing’s largest and most complex manufacturing campuses, including wide-body aircraft production, flight line operations, research and development facilities, and critical infrastructure supporting commercial aviation programs.

The Deputy Fire Chief serves as a key operational and administrative leader responsible for supporting emergency response readiness, employee development, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Everett Fire Department. This position requires a collaborative leader with extensive experience in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), emergency management, industrial fire protection, and labor-management relations in a high-tempo industrial environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages and integrates employee activities across multiple fire protection and emergency response disciplines including Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, fire prevention, fire inspections, emergency preparedness, dispatch operations, and technical rescue

  • Supports daily fire department operations while ensuring emergency readiness for manufacturing, flight line, and campus infrastructure operations

  • Develops and executes strategic plans, operational objectives, policies, and procedures that support site safety, regulatory compliance, and organizational goals

  • Provides leadership and oversight for emergency response operations, training programs, personnel development, staffing coordination, and special projects

  • Leads process improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, data-driven decision making, response readiness, and enhanced customer service

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, local fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies, mutual aid partners, regulatory agencies, labor representatives, and Boeing leadership

  • Oversees compliance with applicable federal, state, local, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Boeing fire protection and emergency response standards

  • Supports budgeting, resource allocation, apparatus and equipment readiness, and long-range department planning initiatives

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, emergency response procedures, and operational processes

  • Develops, mentors, and motivates fire department personnel while fostering a culture centered on safety, accountability, professionalism, respect, and continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Current Hazardous Materials Incident Command Certification

  • Current National Registry Washington State, or other United States state Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification

  • Ability to apply for reciprocity within 30 days of your start date and obtain reciprocity within 6 months of your start date

  • Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) certification

  • State, IFSAC or Proboard Firefighter 1 certification

  • State, IFSAC or Proboard Firefighter 2 certification

  • 5+ years of experience in Aircraft Rescue Firefighting

  • 5+ years of experience working in fire prevention discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in Emergency Services

  • Willing to support a 24/7 on-call environment

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience

  • Current Fire Officer I and II certifications

  • Current Fire Instructor I and II certifications

  • Current Fire Inspector I and II certifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a full time/career firefighter

  • Experience with Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training

  • Experience with emergency response reporting and records management systems such as ESO

  • Experience supporting large campus or industrial emergency management programs

  • organizational with Microsoft Office Suite applications

  • Experience in strategic planning, labor relations, project management, and organizational development

Summary pay range: $119,000 – $161,000
