Responsibilities
- Operate MRI equipment to acquire diagnostic images with attention to pediatric patients from neonates through age 18
- Prepare patients for scans, explain the procedure, and provide age-appropriate comfort and reassurance
- Maintain a clean and safe scanning facility and adhere to MRI safety policies and guidelines
- Coordinate with physicians to deliver timely diagnostic imaging results
- Screen patients for contraindications and adjust scanning parameters to accommodate different ages
- Document all procedures, protect patient privacy, and ensure accurate record-keeping
- IV insertion is not performed in this role; collaborate with the team to support patient care as needed
- Monitor for motion and determine when additional measures (eg, sedation) may be required to obtain quality studies
Requirements
- ARRT certification (MRI or Radiography) required
- New York State Radiologic Technologist license required or must obtain prior to start
- Associate degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiologic technology
- Minimum 2 years MRI experience; at least 6 months pediatric MRI experience
- Siemens MRI scanner experience required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a pediatric-focused imaging environment
- 1) Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting and 2) willingness to obtain or verify licensure before start (as applicable)
