Mercury Marine is seeking a highly collaborative, strategic, and technically skilled IT Solutions Architect to help shape and deliver scalable technology solutions across the business. This role partners with analysts, technical leads, business leaders and enterprise architecture stakeholders to translate business needs into secure, sustainable, and well-governed solution designs.
The IT Solutions Architect will be responsible for defining future-state architectures, guiding project teams through solution design, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, business capabilities, security requirements, and long-term technology strategy. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and influencer who can balance practical delivery needs with architectural discipline in a fast-paced manufacturing and enterprise IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner withBusiness Relationship Managers, business stakeholders, business analysts and technical leads to understand business goals, functional requirements, and technology needs.
- Translate business requirements into practical solution architectures, technical designs, work breakdown structures, estimates, and implementation guidance across multiple technologies and platforms.
- Develop and maintain solution architecture artifacts, including current-state architecture, future-state architecture, transition plans, system context diagrams, integration designs, and related documentation.
- Ensure proposed solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, approved technology standards, information security requirements, integration patterns, and business capability priorities.
- Provide architectural leadership and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from ideation and conceptual architecture through detailed design, build, testing, deployment, and support transition.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture and governance teams to support Architecture Review Board submissions, standards alignment, and reuse of approved reference architectures and design patterns.
- Drive technology rationalization by identifying opportunities to reduce complexity, eliminate duplication, improve interoperability, and modernize legacy systems.
- Mentor technical resources, support standards documentation, and promote consistent architecture practices across project and support teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive IT experience, including experience with enterprise applications, integrations, software delivery, infrastructure, cloud, or related technology domains.
- Strong understanding of business systems, development lifecycles, solution design, technical documentation, testing, implementation, and production support transition.
- Experience designing or supporting complex enterprise, multi-tier, vendor-integrated, SaaS, cloud, or hybrid technology solutions.
- Knowledge of integration patterns and technologies, such as APIs, REST services and middleware services.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including business stakeholders and leadership.
- Proven ability to collaborate across business, IT, security, infrastructure, and project delivery teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with application development, ERP platforms, manufacturing systems, customer-facing digital platforms, data and analytics solutions, or integration-heavy enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, infrastructure, databases, and secure software design principles.
- Experience with technologies such as Oracle EBS, MuleSoft, Microsoft Azure, Java or REST/SOAP services.

Work Environment and Expectations
- Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, with hybrid work opportunities as appropriate.
- Travel Requirements: Minimal travel anticipated, typically less than 10%.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing and enterprise IT environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting both project delivery and strategic architecture initiatives.
