Underground Operational Technology (OT) Foreman – Mining 

 

Position Description

Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit an Operational Technology (OT) Foreman – Mining to join and grow our team. The OT Foreman will be responsible to provide direct support and advice to site personnel and ensure work is completed in a technical, safe, quality controlled and efficient manner in accordance with sound engineering practices and equipment specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full compliance with company safety policies including all site based OH&S requirements and standards.

  • Manage the daily operations of the UG OT department.

  • Develop a skilled national workforce, including Technicians, and Leading Hands through a comprehensive training program competency.

  • To ensure the safety and training of employees who fall under the relevant department Organogram structure.

  • Monitor, appraise, and review the performance of OT personnel to ensure they meet or exceeds Barrick standards.

  • Implementation of new technology in line with manufacturer’s requirements and Barrick standards.

  • To ensure correct Reporting and Documentation of all department matters.

  • To maintain and oversee budgetary requirements of the UG OT department.

  • Ensures planned maintenance schedules are followed to maintain maximum efficiency of control, instrumentation, and communication systems. 

  • Ensures that all installations and maintenance are completed to “site” safe operating procedures, safe working practices and Barrick standards. 

  • Maintain all records of control instrumentation and communication systems from source documents or other information

  • Implementation of process improvement projects.

  • Assist in planning, management and commissioning of data collection and remote-control systems.

  • MET, Newtrax, Optimine, Sandvik Multi-Lite.

  • Implementing new changes to control systems.

  • Creating reports from data collection systems and streamlining of automatic reporting systems.

  • Repair equipment according to maintenance standard. 

  • Communicate with various departments to inform on maintenance activities and equipment availability. 

  • Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental needs. 

  • Must be prepared to do standby and call out duties and overtime when required. 

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Electrical / Auto Electrical / Instrumentation Trade qualification

  • Microsoft Office: MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Projects, Visio, PowerBI

  • Advantageous qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics and communications, telecommunications, computer science or related field

    • Cisco CCNA

    • CompTIA IT Operations Specialist (A+ / Network+)

 

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Must have 5 years underground mining industry related experience.

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electric/ hydraulic/ pneumatic schematics and technical literature.

  • Must have excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Must possess extremely strong interpersonal skills with a team.

  • Familiarity with mining Operations Technology, Digital Radio (RFoF), Fleet Management, Collision Avoidance, Personnel Tracking and Communication Networks

  • Training and experience with:

    • Sandvik OptiMine® 

    • Sandvik AutoMine®

    • Newtrax®

    • Wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, LTE, UHF, VHF, BLE and RFID)
