Project Planner – Growth & Studies – AME & LATAM
Job Description
Project Planner – Growth & Studies – Rest of World
Position Description
The Project Planner – Growth and Studies supports the Growth and Studies Lead in planning, scheduling and delivering Barrick’s organic growth projects across the Rest of World portfolio. The role owns integrated planning and scheduling across multiple projects and the full project lifecycle – from early-stage studies and PEA, through PFS and Feasibility, into execution and construction. The Planner will also develop and implement planning standards that let schedule, cost, progress and risk be reported consistently across the portfolio. Working with regional and site teams, project managers, discipline leads and external consultants, the Planner maintains a single integrated view of scope, schedule, cost, risk and key decisions. The role requires regular travel to the projects and mine sites but will be based remotely. A background in mining project development is required, and experience spanning PEA through to execution and construction is highly beneficial.
Join our exceptional team and embody Barrick's core values as you work with us. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:
Communicating Honestly, Transparently, and Acting with Integrity
Exhibiting a Results-Driven approach
Delivering solutions that are Fit for Purpose
Dedicating themselves to Building a Sustainable Legacy
Taking Responsibility and being Accountable
Committing to Zero Harm
Cultivating strong and meaningful Partnerships
If you're ready to contribute to our world-class team while embracing these values, we encourage you to apply and become a valued member of our diverse workforce.
Responsibilities:
Own and maintain the integrated master schedule for growth projects across the Rest of World portfolio, from early-stage studies (PEA, PFS, FS) through to execution and construction, ensuring critical-path visibility, milestone alignment and accountability across all disciplines.
Drive study-stage planning discipline – scope definition, schedule baselining, change control and progress tracking – across PEA, PFS and Feasibility, ensuring gating requirements and decision points are clearly planned and met.
Integrate inputs from mining, geotechnical, process, infrastructure, environmental and cost-estimation disciplines into consolidated project plans and study deliverable registers.
Prepare and present schedule reports, critical-path and variance analyses and risk registers for project and senior leadership, with clear narrative on status, issues and recovery actions.
In execution and construction, maintain the overall master programme and WBS, integrate contractor schedules and baselines, and report progress through S-curves, look-ahead schedules and construction KPI dashboards.
Travel to project and mine sites to support study execution, workshops, data collection, constructability reviews and planning alignment with technical and operational teams.
Develop, implement and continuously improve planning standards, scheduling tools and templates, embedding consistent ways of working across the portfolio from screening through to construction.
Standardise project planning and reporting across the company through common schedule structures, templates, dashboards and KPIs, so growth projects are planned and reported on a consistent, comparable basis.
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, geology, civil engineering, project management or a related technical field.
Experience Requirements:
Developing and managing integrated schedules for mining growth projects across the full lifecycle – early-stage studies (PEA/Scoping), PFS and Feasibility through to execution and construction – with a strong grasp of study-stage gating, deliverable structures and discipline interdependencies.
Developing and implementing planning standards and standardising reporting and project controls across a portfolio or organisation to drive consistency and comparability.
Coordinating inputs from multiple technical disciplines and external consultants into a single consolidated plan, and analysing schedule performance – critical path, variance, float and scope-change impacts – to drive recovery planning.
Preparing and presenting schedule reports, dashboards, milestone updates and planning KPIs to project and senior leadership, using Primavera P6 or MS Project plus data tools (Excel, Power BI, Python); familiarity with AI or automation tools is an asset.
A track record in fast-paced mining growth environments – working at or alongside project sites and driving planning rigour, schedule discipline and cross-discipline accountability across both near-term deliverable cycles and long-term study programmes.
Willingness to travel within AME & LATAM
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Strong analytical skills, able to interpret mining project information – mine plans, capital and operating cost estimates, geotechnical and processing constraints and economic models – and translate it into clear planning outputs and risk identification.
Sound knowledge of mining project development fundamentals – study-stage progression (PEA, PFS, FS), discipline scope, cost structure, and the value drivers and risks behind project-advancement decisions.
Strong planning and scheduling skills: building and maintaining integrated master schedules, managing multi-discipline deliverable registers, tracking critical path and driving accountability across teams.
Strong data literacy, with proficiency in Excel and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project); experience with Power BI, Python or AI-assisted planning tools is an advantage.
Clear written and verbal communication, able to produce concise planning summaries, schedule narratives and decision-support materials for senior audiences.
Highly organised and detail-oriented, able to manage competing priorities, work independently across time zones and engage credibly with site, regional and corporate teams.
What We Can Offer You:
A comprehensive compensation package including bonuses and site-specific benefits
The ability to make a difference and lasting impact
Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
Opportunities to grow and learn with industry colleagues
Access to a variety of career opportunities across the organization
