Overview

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Co-Op/Intern to support multiple engineering and operations groups within our manufacturing facility. This position is designed for a junior-level university student pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.

This role offers hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, engineering support activities, data analysis, testing systems, and process improvement initiatives.  The student will divide their time equally between the Buyer/Planner organization and the Test & Automation Engineering group, gaining experience across both business and technical functions.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys problem-solving, works well in team environments, and is interested in gaining practical experience within a manufacturing and engineering setting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Buyer/Planner and Data Analytics Support (50%)

  • Support the Buyer/Planner group with data collection, organization, and analysis activities. 
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Excel-based tools, reports, dashboards, and tracking systems. 
  • Help analyze production, inventory, and material-related data to identify trends and improvement opportunities. 
  • Assist with process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support operational efficiency and business decision-making. 

2. Test and Engineering Support (50%)

  • Support the Test & Automation Engineering group with equipment setup, testing activities, and troubleshooting efforts. 
  • Assist engineers with validation, data collection, and documentation for test systems and production equipment. 
  • Help with assembly, wiring, and basic integration of mechanical and electrical components. 
  • Participate in engineering improvement projects related to manufacturing and testing processes. 
  • Support troubleshooting activities involving mechanical, electrical, and software-related systems. 

 

3. Learning and Professional Development Goals

This co-op/internship is intended to provide real-world exposure and practical experience in:

  • Manufacturing and production environments

Qualifications

Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in: 
    • Industrial Engineering 
    • Mechanical Engineering 
    • Electrical Engineering 
    • Mechatronics
    • Or a related technical field 
  • Preferred candidate is entering junior or senior year or equivalent coursework level. 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Strong interest in manufacturing, engineering, and operations. 
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and analyzing data. 
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems through coursework or projects. 
  • Exposure to CAD software, programming, or automation technologies is beneficial but not required. 
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within team environments. 
  • Willingness to learn and support a variety of engineering and operational tasks.
