Job Description
Loading Machine Operator (Monday - Friday 6a-2:30p) needed in our state-of-the-art environmentally controlled, very clean facility in South Bend, IN. The General Production Loading Machine employee is responsible for performing various tasks to set up , operate, monitor, and run various machine/s in accordance with customer and PEI specifications safely. Must have strong attention to detail to ensure no machinery issues go unnoticed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Needed/desired for this Position)
- High School Diploma or GED Preferred or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Communication skills; Ability to communicate with peers, superiors, and management.
- Cross trained for all areas of production.
- Ability to fluctuate schedule as deemed necessary by management or as the work load requires.
- Willingness to obtain knowledge of product and process.
- Ability to follow directives as set forth by superiors and/or management.
- Good hand/eye coordination.

TECHNICAL and/or MANAGERIAL JOB COMPETENCIES – (Specific Job Proficiencies and Skills)
- Demonstrate excellent manual dexterity in the assembly of small components with or without the assistance of equipment.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Meet the production fulfillment needs of internal and external customers
- Setting up machine, utilizing variety of tooling, perform 1st piece inspection checks .
- Tool selection-Top tools and bases.
- Program Selection-Connector Patterns
- Setting Picker & Gripper to Perform height adjustments
- Use of shims & rubber grommets during set-up
- Arbor press tool selection set up for hand loading & contact adjustments
- Contact turning tooling selection
- Operator tooling PM’s.
- Trouble shooting-Machine adjustments for required contact application.
- Ability to use standardized tools of measurement (Computerized Vision Measurements, arbor presses, depth indicators, go/no-go gages, and other standardized tools/ equipment
- Operate complex machinery safely, accurately, and efficiently per the work order and work instructions.
- Must be able to interpret specifications using multiple place decimals.
- Ability to Read, understand and follow work orders, specifications and “special” instructions as outlined on the work orders.
- Read, understand and complete all production department documentation and work instructions to the PEI-Genesis ISO9001 and AS9100 standard.
- Ability to use or learn basic computer skills.
- Work orders must be completed daily to meet Facility Promise Date and Cycle Time metrics
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area to eliminate FOD (Foreign Object Debris)
- Utilize necessary Kanban and FIFO methodologies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Manual lifting up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 70 lbs. on occasion (with assistance).
- Repetitive detailed work with hands for 8+ hours of the day.
- Must have range of motion to push/pull lever up/down with moderate force
- Ability to sit or stand for up to 8+ hours.
- Be able to reach overhead with or without the aid of a ladder or step stool.
- Ability to Grip/Grasp at least 8 hours of the day.
