Chemicals Buyer (fixed-term contract)

We are currently seeking an exceptional professional to join us as Chemicals Buyer (6-month contract) 

As a Chemicals Buyer you will manage the day-to-day contractual relationship with vendors and customers to build long-term sourcing relationships. You will ensure we understand and adhere to customer, contractual, legislative, and quality requirements throughout the sourcing process, while operating efficient working practices to meet delivery and commercial targets.

Responsibilities

• Contact suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, availability, and delivery schedules; evaluate quotes and recommend awards.
• Develop and process purchase orders, including revisions, under the guidance of the Supply Chain Manager.
• Review incoming requisitions for accuracy; resolve discrepancies related to prices, delivery, and quality.
• Monitor supplier compliance with contract cost, quality, and schedule requirements, and follow up on open POs to ensure on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure trade compliance and smooth import/export processes.
• Prepare regular reports and present updates to management and customers in a timely manner.

Requirements

• 2 to 3 years of experience working in purchasing department
• Chemical knowledge and familiarity with import/export regulations is advantageous
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential, alongside experience using Copilot or other AI tools to enhance productivity
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Positive attitude and ability to function as a team player
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Malay or Chinese is an advantage
• Willingness to work on a 6-month fixed-term contract
