Senior Porter - Part Time
(Please note that you must already have work rights in New Zealand to be considered for this role.)
We are looking for a Part-Time Senior Porter to join our amazing Bell Desk team at Cordis Auckland. As a Senior Porter, you will play an important role in creating a seamless, warm, and five-star arrival and departure experience for our guests. You will support the day-to-day operation of the Bell Desk, assist with luggage, valet parking, guest enquiries, and front entrance flow, while helping to coordinate the wider Porter team during each shift.
What you’ll be doing
- Provide a warm, personalised, and professional welcome to all guests
- Support the smooth daily operation of the Bell Desk and Front Services area
- Assist with luggage delivery, storage, guest arrivals, departures, and general porter duties
- Support valet parking and ensure guest vehicles are handled safely and professionally
- Coordinate luggage movements for individual guests, groups, and tours
- Assign tasks to Porter team members and help ensure duties are completed efficiently
- Liaise with Front Office and other hotel departments to ensure communication is clear and guest requests are followed up
- Post guest charges and maintain accurate billing or supporting records where required
- Assist with monitoring the front entrance, traffic flow, lobby presentation, and guest safety
- Respond to guest enquiries and concerns in a calm, helpful, and solutions-focused way
- Support training, guidance, and day-to-day coaching for team members where needed
- Help maintain equipment, department areas, and hotel standards
- Lead by example through professionalism, initiative, and a strong guest focus
Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Porter, ideally within a hotel environment
- Previous experience in a luxury or five-star hotel environment would be an advantage, but is not essential
- Must have a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence (international license not accepted)
- Must have flexibility to work AM, PM, weekend, public holiday, and occasional overnight shifts
- Strong customer service skills and a warm, professional communication style
- The ability to stay calm and organised in a busy hotel environment
- Confidence coordinating tasks and supporting other team members
- Good attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Immaculate grooming and professional presentation
- A positive, hard-working attitude and willingness to support the wider team
- The ability to work independently while still being a strong team player
