Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Manager, Field Applications. This position will be located in Tokyo, Japan.

Summary:
The Manager, Field Applications Engineering leads teams that serve as the primary technical interface between the company and customers, ensuring successful material integration, customer satisfaction, and product adoption. This role involves both hands-on technical leadership and strategic coordination, guiding field engineers in executing trials, resolving complex process issues, and aligning application efforts with customer roadmaps. This role is critical in translating customer needs into internal development priorities and strengthening the company’s position as a trusted process technology partner.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical engagement across assigned customers by coordinating field support, tracking material evaluations, and serving as the escalation point for complex application challenges.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison during new product introductions, ensuring customer expectations are understood, documented, and reflected in internal product deployment plans.
  • Direct and support the execution of customer experiments, process qualifications, and root cause investigations with a focus on accuracy, speed, and process stability.
  • Support internal development efforts by gathering detailed customer feedback, identifying product performance gaps, and translating them into actionable insights for R&D and integration teams.
  • Organize and facilitate pre-evaluation activities such as sample prep coordination, FMEA discussions, and trial-readiness reviews to ensure first-time-right field execution.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Commercial teams to align customer application strategies and roadmaps with internal product roadmaps, performance targets, and competitive benchmarks.
  • Review and refine application notes, technical documentation, and trial summaries to ensure they clearly articulate value propositions and technical differentiators.
  • Develop and maintain a structured approach to managing field risks, including logging technical issues, tracking customer requests, and documenting resolution status.
  • Maintain awareness of internal lab capabilities and external service partners to ensure effective planning for simulations, characterizations, or custom demo builds that support customer wins.
  • Interface with metrology and analytics groups to design and interpret performance
  • Troubleshoot complex integration problems, yield challenges, or reliability issues in customer fabs in coordination with internal teams including R&D, quality engineering, factory applications engineering, and manufacturing.

Education & Credentials:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering or related field and
  • 4+ years relevant experience in engineering or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 

Salary: ¥8,560,000 to ¥11,504,700 annually, subject to tax and social insurance.

Working Hours: A 40-hour work week with the standard working hours are usually 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Friday with a 1-hour lunch break, but this can vary depending on the company need. 

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time with a 6 month probation period of 6 months
