About the Role
The Administration Clerk will conduct a wide range of organisational and administrative tasks that support and facilitate patient care. This role will predominately be responsible for the coordination of access to services, referral management and information management systems of the St John’s unit at Port Phillip Prison.

  • Appointment scheduling and entries in the electronic patient record.

  • Routine administration duties – typing, telephone, storing data entry, appointments, meeting preparation, minute taking, photocopying, scanning, faxing and emailing.  

  • Effective communication skills with SVCHS staff, Correctional staff, Port Phillip Prison subcontracted services and external health services.

  • Report and escalate issues to the Nurse Unit Manager


Classification for this position ranges from HS1 - HS17 ($58,442.80 - $64,610 per annum pro rata).

  • Completion of Year 12 or equivalent literacy and numeracy
  • Current Police check
  • Ability to be self-directing and work with minimum supervision
  • Interest in working in a patient focused environment

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Computer skills – working knowledge of Windows environment including word processing, spread sheets and database

About St John's

St Vincent’s Correctional Health Coordination Hub Service (SVCHCHS) operates across 3 key areas:

•           St John’s Subacute Inpatient Unit located within Port Phillip Prison,

•           St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM), Fitzroy including St Augustine’s Acute Secure Ward and Specialist clinic for correctional patients

•           SVHM State-wide Hepatitis program

This position is based at Port Phillip Prison and provides essential administrative support to the Correctional health service, ensuring accurate appointment coordination for the subacute inpatient unit , effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
