Overview: The Senior Data Analyst is a key member of the Data Analytics Management team and works to bridge the gap between data and strategic business decision making. They will have significant technical experience with querying large sets of data, report writing, data governance, and dashboard production. They will be both a problem solver and an innovator, capable of navigating large sets of data and leveraging financial institution experience to create meaningful insights used in analyzing Credit Union performance. This position requires deep analysis skills as well as data modeling and report building ability. Essential Responsibilities: Partners with internal business units, acting as a consultant for business units by leveraging a variety of data resources to build dashboards, produce operational reporting, and perform in depth analysis to help partners better understand their unit’s performance. Leads meetings with internal customers to understand data needs. Reconciles data models to financial records where applicable to verify completeness and accuracy. In partnership with Data Engineering teams, designs dashboards, queries, and data structures to provide a single source of truth for institutional data. Ensures reporting and insights are aligned with strategic goals and priorities, while maintaining neutrality in producing data for oversight. Works a Jira request queue for datasets or data models and responds in adherence with SLAs where applicable. Leads new projects with confidence and independence and communicates status updates regularly with stakeholders and senior management. Mentors and leads junior team members by being a subject matter expert with technical-side expertise (PowerBI, Excel, SQL). Directly supports senior management by sourcing and analyzing large sets of data to identify and advise on opportunities to optimize Credit Union financial performance. Analyzes internal and external data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that are used by Credit Union leaders to inform business decisions. Develops positive working relationships across the Credit Union by providing reliable, valuable insight and perspective through reporting and analysis, and uses those relationships to strengthen data utilization. Communicates findings, recommendations, and project updates to stakeholders and executives in a clear and understandable way. Identifies gaps in current performance reporting and/or analysis to contribute additional insights for decision makers. Prioritizes initiatives based on business needs and requirements. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems or similar is required. Financial Institution experience recommended. 10+ years’ experience working with SQL and PowerBI required to navigate significant amounts of data required. Experience applying analytical methods to complex business problems, driving improved decision making and outcomes. Exposure to Snowflake, Jira, and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services required. Understanding of FASB/accounting a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Advanced Excel knowledge required. Comfortable navigating a variety of business systems as required to support all business units. Demonstrated knowledge of the financial industry and its products and services. Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to independently research complex problem areas, facilitate meetings and high level decision-making processes. Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter, comfortable initiating new processes and creating reporting from scratch. High degree of professionalism and communication skills to translate data observations to all levels of leadership including Executive and Board.
