We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Analyst to join our highly skilled Credit Operations team. This role takes credit operations to a whole new level, encouraging you to exceed business needs and work in a collaborative team who are just as passionate as you to provide exceptional experiences.

 

JOB OVERVIEW

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services South Africa is seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Credit Analyst to undertake vehicle finance credit assessment and decision-making across the Private Individual, Small Business, Corporate and Dealer portfolios in line with approved credit policies. This role is key in supporting business growth while maintaining strong risk discipline and delivering excellent service to internal stakeholders and the dealer network.      

 

KEY TASKS:

Credit Assessment & Decision-Making

  • Assess, analyse and evaluate Private Individual and Small Business credit applications

  • Make credit recommendations or decisions within approved authority limits and policies

  •  Interpret financial information, including bank statements, income verification and payment behaviour

  • Ensure adherence to MBFS SA credit policies and risk appetite

Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management

  • Conduct financial analysis and support credit reviews

  •  Contribute to post-mortem reviews and portfolio analysis

  • Support corporate and dealer reviews, including financial assessment and facility recommendations

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management

  •  Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers and internal stakeholders

  • Provide support and guidance on credit-related queries

  • Collaborate with Sales and other departments to ensure aligned decision-making and service delivery

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to process improvements and knowledge sharing within the team

  • Take accountability for ongoing professional development

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, including:

  •  Credit policies and procedures

  •  Anti-bribery, Anti-Money Laundering, and Anti-Trust regulations

  •  Data protection and legislative requirements

Technical & Functional Skills:

  • Strong financial analysis capability

  • Sound understanding of credit lending principles

  • Knowledge of vehicle and asset finance

  • Ability to interpret financial statements and customer risk profiles

  • Strong understanding and practical application of:

     

    • National Credit Act (NCA)

       

    • National Credit Regulator (NCR) affordability requirements

       

    • FICA / Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Requirements

       

    • POPIA and data protection principles
  • Sound knowledge of Vehicle Asset Finance Products

     

    • Instalment sale agreements

       

    • Finance leases

       

    • Operating leases

       

    • Guaranteed future value (GFV) products 

Behavioural Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking ability

  •  High level of accountability and attention to detail

  • Assertiveness and sound judgement in decision-making

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Qualifications & Experience

  •  Degree/Diploma in Finance, Commerce or related field (preferred)

  •  Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant credit experience

  • Preferably within the automotive finance / asset-based finance environment

  • Vehicle finance credit assessment experience
