Job Description

Overview:
The Lead Carpenter plays a critical role in the hands-on execution of high-end residential construction projects. This position requires expert craftsmanship, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to delivering impeccable results. As a trusted on-site leader, the Lead Carpenter works closely with the project team to ensure each build reflects the company’s standards for quality, detail, and client satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Craftsmanship & Installation:
• Perform all aspects of fine carpentry and general construction including framing, insulation, drywall, trim, tile, and millwork with precision and efficiency.
• Construct and install custom elements such as doors, windows, cabinetry, and built-ins per architectural specifications.
• Accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials to ensure the highest level of finish quality.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and job-specific equipment with confidence and care.
2. Job Site Leadership & Collaboration:
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site that reflects company standards.
• Assist in coordinating on-site workflows with subcontractors, vendors, and other trades.
• Identify potential issues or design conflicts early and provide solutions proactively.
• Support junior carpenters or laborers as needed to maintain productivity and craftsmanship.
3. Documentation & Communication:
• Communicate clearly with the Production Manager and Field Operations Manager about job progress, material needs, and schedule updates.
• Maintain daily logs or photo documentation of completed work as requested.
• Follow scope and specifications closely, requesting clarification when needed to avoid errors or rework.
4. Safety & Equipment Maintenance:
• Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards at all times.
• Conduct regular tool and equipment checks to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Maintain a safe working environment for self and others.
5. Service & Support:
• May assist with post-construction warranty and maintenance service calls when needed.
• Represent the company with professionalism and courtesy in all homeowner interactions.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or GED required. Vocational training in carpentry or construction preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in high-end residential construction or finish carpentry.
• Skills:
o Strong understanding of residential building codes and framing to finish practices.
o High-level skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, specs, and plans.
o Effective verbal and written communication skills.
o Proficiency with construction hand tools and powered equipment.
o Familiarity with Microsoft Office required; experience with PlanGrid or Bluebeam is a plus.
o Spanish fluency preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Able to climb ladders and navigate active construction sites.
• Capable of working in tight spaces or at heights as needed.
• Can work on foot and with hands for extended periods.
